Pair your devices

Connect your phone, a browser or another computer to the computer that runs your agents. No account needed.

supermux has no accounts. Each phone, tablet, browser or desktop app pairs once with the computer that runs your agents, using a QR code or a pairing link. That computer is called a host.

Pair your phone

Install the app

Get supermux from the App Store for iPhone and iPad, or the APK for Android.

Get to the Connect page

A few intro pages explain supermux. The last one is Connect to your computer.

Scan the code

Tap Scan pairing code and point the camera at the QR code on your computer. You can also paste a pairing link into or paste a pairing link and tap Pair.

Confirm

The app asks Connect to this broker? and shows the address it's about to trust. Tap Connect.

Where pairing codes come from

WhereWhat you getHow long it works
The desktop's first launch, or Settings ▸ Hosting ▸ Pair a device…A QR codeOne use, 10 minutes
Settings ▸ Devices ▸ Add device (in any paired app)A QR code and a linkUntil you revoke the device
supermux pair <name> on a serverA link and a QR code in the terminalUntil you revoke the device

To add a device from the app, open Settings ▸ Devices, choose Add device, give it a name like "Work laptop", and choose Create. You get a QR code and a Copy link button.

Treat a pairing link like a password

Anyone who opens it gets access until you revoke the device. Only scan it with your own devices.

Pair a browser

Open a pairing link in the browser and you're in. On a brand-new install opened in a browser, the first browser to connect is paired automatically.

If the host is already set up, the browser shows Pair this browser. Paste a link from Settings ▸ Devices on a device you've already paired, and choose Open link.

Connect a desktop app to another computer

To use a desktop app with supermux running somewhere else, click Connect to a different broker instead on its first launch and paste a pairing link. To add more computers later, see Several computers.

See and remove devices

Settings ▸ Devices lists every paired device and when it was last seen. Revoke removes one: it's signed out right away and needs a new pairing link to come back.

On a server, supermux revoke <name> does the same.
